Clarification of News Report

The Exchange requested the company to make a clarification on the news article entitled “DENR cancels 75 mining contracts” posted in Manila Bulletin (Internet Edition) on February 14, 2017. The article reported in part that:

“A total of 75 mining companies are now at risk of losing their Mineral Production Sharing Agreements (MPSA).

Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Gina Lopez has cancelled more mining contracts on Tuesday, February 14. This time, she scrapped about 75 MPSAs.
….”

Neither Platinum Group Metals Corporation, nor Ipilan Nickel Corporation, nor any of the companies associated with FNI group is among the DENR’s list of 75 mining companies, whose mineral production sharing contracts will be cancelled supposedly because their mining tenements are within the watershed areas. The group maintains that its operations are outside the proclaimed watershed forest reserves and that the government ought to respect its prior or vested rights.
