Effectivity of Republic Act 10926 extending the franchise granted to Smart Communications, Inc.
Background/Description of the Disclosure
Further to our disclosure dated May 3, 2017, we advise that Republic Act No. 10926 (“RA 10926”) extending the franchise granted to Smart Communications, Inc. (“Smart”) for twenty five (25) years took effect on May 19, 2017 (the “Effective Date”), fifteen (15) days following its publication in a newspaper of general circulation on May 4, 2017. The extended term of franchise shall be from the Effective Date until May 19, 2042. In accordance with Section 8 of RA 10926, Smart’s formal written acceptance of the franchise was given to and received by the Committee on Legislative Franchises of the House of Representatives and the Committee on Public Services of the Senate on May 22, 2017.
