Clarification of News Report

Dear PSE

In relation to your query via PSE Edge at 8:33am today, regarding clarification on the Manila Bulletin article Internet Edition on November 30, 2017 (attached):

On November 28, 2017, BSP posted a Media Release on their website in relation to results of examination of MBTC’s 1.75B fraud incident. At 10:08am of the same day, MBTC issued a Material Information disclosure via PSE Edge in relation to the Media Release of BSP.
While the BSP Media Release indicated that “sanctions imposed ranged from reprimand to suspension of directors and officers”, the individual details of the sanctions were not publicly released by the BSP. We cannot disclose anything beyond the official statement of the BSP.

Again we take this opportunity to reiterate that:

- MBTC commits to implementing the BSP directives (as outlined in the BSP Media Release)
- MBTC assures the public that the bank operations remain business as usual
- MBTC reiterates that no customer was affected
- The full financial impact was already absorbed in MBTC’s 3Q2017 results
- BSP reaffirms the safety and soundness of MBTC

Thank you. Very truly yours.
