Clarification of News Report
A news article reported under Biz Buzz column entitled “Insider Cheating?” published in the June 11, 2018 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. The article reported in part that :
"Vulcan Play
Shares of Vulcan Mining sizzled last week still in line with the third telco speculative play. On Thursday, it gained 23.5 percent and rallied by another 12.75 percent on Friday to close at P1.15 a share.
Vulcan—owned by the Ramos family, which also controls Atlas Mining and popular bookstore chain National Bookstore – is again the subject of backdoor-listing rumors. . . .
This time around, speculators bet that Vulcan could provide the backdoor for another third telco aspirant. This time around, the rumoured aspirant is Converge ICT Solutions Inc., the fiber internet provider of businessman/telecom veteran Dennis A. Uy – the one from Pampanga, not from Davao, that is.”
The Exchange directed the Company on June 11, 2018 to comment on the subject article. Please be advised that we do not have any knowledge of the possible backdoor listing of a telco company through Vulcan Industrial & Mining Corporation. We are also not aware at this time of who are actively trading Vulcan’s shares.
