Clarification of News Report

A news article entitled “Now Telecom exploring tie-up with Mislatel” was posted in manilastandard.net on July 11, 2019. The article reported in part that:
“Now Telecom Inc., a company controlled by the Velarde family, said it is open to a partnership with Dito Telecommunity (formerly Mislatel) owned by Davao-based businessman Dennis Uy to provide faster broadband connectivity in the country.
‘Now remains confident and steadfast in its proven strategy of providing guaranteed broadband to enterprises. It is determined to expand its service offerings to new geographical markets. Part of this strategy is our willingness to entertain possible partnerships with other telecommunications companies’ Now Telecom president Rodolfo Pantoja said.
‘We are always open to explore opportunities of partnership and collaboration with other players in the industry, to both local and foreign players. The same can be said to Dito Telecommunity,’ he said.
. . . .”
NOW Corporation would like to confirm that its affiliate, NOW Telecom Company, Inc. is open to working with telco players and industry stakeholders, including DITO Telecommunity.

NOW Telecom’s willingness and support to an industry-wide collaboration to improve the existing telecommunications services is its reply to DITO Telecommunity’s call for support with stakeholders and industry players as mentioned by DITO Telecommunity Spokesperson Atty. Adel Tamano in earlier reports. Such cooperation and collaboration forms part of the telecommunications business among carriers, where network services are offered to other telecommunications companies through interconnection and service provision that would ultimately deliver better and faster telecom services to Filipinos.

NOW would also like to confirm that it is willing to explore possible partnerships and collaboration with other local or foreign telecommunications companies.

Currently, there are no concrete talks on commercial arrangements, equity investment, or consortium membership between NOW and DITO. NOW Telecom, however, believes that this is an integral start to an industry-wide partnership.
