TUGS secures contract for shoreline clean-up and oily waste disposal

Background/Description of the Disclosure

On 28 February 2023, the oil tanker MT Princess Empress, with 800,000 liters of industrial oil, sank off the coast of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro and began to spill its petroleum contents that could harm the environment and potentially cause a disaster. The vessel is protected by Protection and Indemnity Insurance, which includes coverage for an oil spill.

On 7 March 2023, TUGS secured a contract with the owner of the vessel MT Princess Empress for the deployment of manpower and resources for shoreline clean-up and oily waste disposal as directed and approved by the PCG, Local Government Unit, and other concerned agencies. Additional work under the agreement may be agreed subject to a written agreement between the parties.
