TUGS signs contract to salvage M/T Terranova

Background/Description of the Disclosure

On 25 July 2024, at around 01:10 a.m., tanker M/T Terranova, owned by Shogun Ships Co., Inc. (“SSCI”), a company registered under the laws of the Philippines, capsized and eventually submerged nearly 7 kilometers (4.3 miles) east of Lamao Point in the Municipality of Limay in Bataan.

M/T Terranova had a compliment of with 17 crew members and was carrying approximately 1.4 million liters of industrial fuel oil.

Of the 17 crew members, 16 crew members were rescued with one still missing. Search and rescue operations for the missing crew member are still ongoing.

SSCI and TUGS entered into a no-cure, no-pay contract for the immediate salvage of M/T Terranova, including oil spill response operations to minimize the possible environmental damage resulting from the oil spill. TUGS immediately mobilized its tugboats and salvage equipment to the grounding site.
