Clarification of News Report

We write in connection with the news article entitled “DITO sets P9-b budget to build more cell towers” posted in ManilaStandard.net (Online Edition) on November 10, 2024, which reported in part that:

"DITO Telecommunity Corp. said it is spending about P9 billion over the next two to three years to build more cell towers and reach 90 percent of the population.

DITO’s network coverage is at 86 percent at present.

“The average [investment per tower] for the industry is around $200,000,” said DITO president and chief executive Eric Alberto. The company would build 800 additional towers over the next two to three years, he said.

The company invested over P250 billion in the past five years to expand its network nationwide, resulting in a robust infrastructure with more than 7,000 cell sites.

. . . .”

From information provided by its operating subsidiary, DITO Telecommunity Corp. (“DITO Tel”), DITO CME Holdings Corp. (the “Company”), wishes to clarify that while DITO Tel has committed to further develop and improve its network capabilities, it is still finalizing its capital expenditure and other budget figures. The statements provided were only estimated figures on the assumption that 800 additional towers will be built at the average cost of around US$200,000 per tower and DITO Tel has yet to finalize these matters. Nevertheless, any funding for this development and improvement will be taken from both equity infusion and DITO Tel’s generated revenue."
