Philippine Competition Commission Approves the Acquisition of the Caliraya-Botocan-Kalayaan Hydroelectric Power Plant Complex by the Thunder Consortium
Background/Description of the Disclosure
Please be advised that Aboitiz Power Corporation (“AboitizPower”) was informed today by its wholly-owned subsidiary, Aboitiz Renewables, Inc. (“ARI”), that the Philippine Competition Commission has approved the acquisition of the Caliraya-Botocan-Kalayaan Hydroelectric Power Plant (“CBK HEPP”) Complex by the Thunder Consortium (composed of ARI, Sumitomo Corporation, and Electric Power Development Co., Ltd.). The transaction involves the acquisition of the CBK HEPP assets from the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation (“PSALM”) pursuant to the bidding process conducted by the Privatization Bids and Awards Committee of PSALM. ARI represents AboitizPower’s investments and interests in various renewable energy projects, including geothermal, large hydro, run-of-river hydro, wind, battery energy storage systems, and solar projects.
