PRESS RELEASE: INAUGURATION OF AFFILIATE'S 2ND WATER TREATMENT PLANT IN BACOLOD CITY.

Background/Description of the Disclosure

Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI), a subsidiary of the Tubig Pilipinas Holdings Inc., inaugurated today its second (2) water treatment plant serving Bacolod City and the Municipality of Murcia.
The inauguration and inspection was led by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Congressmen Albee Benitez and other local officials. Also in attendance were the Ambassadors of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the State of Israel, and the diplomats of the European Union, underscoring the project’s national and international significance.
This Php 1.5 billion facility represents a major step forward in delivering safe, economical, and reliable potable water to the residents and population of Bacolod City and the Municipality of Murcia. Together, the plant currently supplies approximately 40 million liters per day (MLD)—equivalent to about 40% of Bacolod City’s total water requirements—with infrastructure designed to scale it up to 60 MLD. The two (2) plants are capable of serving 750,000 residents.
“This project demonstrates how strong public-private partnerships and foreign investments deployed into strategic and focused water companies such as Tubig Pilipinas, can deliver critical infrastructure that supports SDG (sustainable development goals)” BBWI Chairman Ryan Yapkianwee said.
Meanwhile, the Tubig Pilipinas continues to expand its national footprint with the ongoing construction of the 50 MLD Jaclupan Bulk Water Supply Project in Talisay City, Cebu, that will be operational within the year. Its operational plants include San Jose City (Nueva Ecija), Cadiz City (Negros Occidental), Catbalogan (Samar), Nabua (Camarines Sur), Echague (Isabela), Trece Martires City (Cavite), Coron (Palawan), and Sual and Labrador (Pangasinan), Catarman (Samar), and Borbon (Cebu).
