Subject of the Disclosure

Administrative fines imposed by the National Privacy Commission (“NPC”) against Metro Retail Stores Group, Inc. (“MRSGI”) for alleged violation of Section 16(c) in relation to Section 17 of the Data Privacy Act of 2012.

Background/Description of the Disclosure

On January 20, 2026, at 5:24 P.M., MRSGI received a Letter from the NPC dated January 13, 2026 transmitting its Decision, finding MRSGI liable for violation of Section 16(c), in relation to Section 17, of the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and NPC Circular No. 2024-02. The Decision awarded the complainant nominal damages in the amount of Php15,000.00 and imposed an administrative fine equivalent to 0.75% of MRSGI’s annual gross income for the immediately preceding year when the infraction occurred, but shall not exceed Php5,000,000.00. MRSGI shall file a Motion for Reconsideration questioning and challenging the said NPC Decision.

MRSGI believes that it has fully complied with its responsibility under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 as MRSGI has provided the requested CCTV footage.
