Philippine AXA Life Centre signs deal with Ayala’s ACEN RES to switch to renewable energy

Background/Description of the Disclosure

20 February 2026 — The Philippine AXA Life Centre, a prominent business landmark in the Makati Central Business District, has commenced its switch to renewable energy through a supply agreement with ACEN RES, the retail electricity supply unit of the Ayala group.

Arturo Tanyag, President of the Philippine AXA Life Centre Condominium Corp., noted that the transition aligns with the building’s long-term operational values: “This partnership with ACEN RES marks a significant milestone in our commitment to responsible property management. While the Philippine AXA Life Centre has stood as a pillar of stability in Makati for decades, we believe that true resilience involves adapting to the needs of the future. By transitioning to renewable energy, we are not only reducing our carbon footprint but also providing our tenants with a business environment that supports their own sustainability goals.

Sheila Mina, Vice President and Head of Account Management at ACEN RES, welcomed the inclusion of the facility into their network of partners: “We are honored to support the Philippine AXA Life Centre in this meaningful transition. As we see more established commercial hubs like this make the switch, it sends a powerful message that sustainability is now a business imperative. ACEN RES is committed to guiding our partners through every step of this journey.”

This shift was made under the government’s Green Energy Option Program (GEOP), a policy mechanism that empowers electricity end-users with an average monthly peak demand of at least 100 kilowatts to voluntarily switch their power supply to renewable energy sources through a licensed supplier like ACEN RES.

ACEN RES currently leads this sector, holding a 57% market share among GEOP suppliers, according to the latest Competitive Retail Electricity Market (CREM) report released by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).

In recognition of the switch, ACEN RES awarded the Philippine AXA Life Centre with its proprietary “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge. Launched in 2022, the badge serves to recognize businesses that embrace environmental sustainability through a decisive shift to renewable energy.

To date, the “Powered by Renewable Energy” badge has been installed in nearly 100 renewable-powered facilities across the Philippines, serving as a visible marker of the private sector’s role in mitigating climate change.
