Clarification of News Report
We write with respect to the news article relating to DITO CME Holdings Corp. (“DITO CME”). In the article entitled “Regulator to penalize telcos for poor broadband service” posted in BusinessMirror (businessmirror.com.ph) on September 28, 2026, it was reported that: The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announced last Sunday it has prepared show cause orders (SCOs) against the country’s three mobile network operators, imposing a daily penalty of P100,000 each after its latest round of speed tests found no measurable improvement in their mobile broadband service in the National Capital Region (NCR). The penalties, which started on September 25, will run until the identified service deficiencies are fully fixed, the regulator said. The orders cover Dito Telecommunity Corp., Globe Telecom Inc., and Smart Communications Inc. (Smart). The NTC said its September 2026 mobile speed test revalidation showed that poor mobile broadband signals recorded earlier “remain substantially unchanged” compared with the results of its validation activities in the first and second quarters of the year. … For DITO, these were San Juan, Pasay, and Las Piñas.” From information obtained from its subsidiary DITO Telecommunity Corp. (“DITO Tel”), DITO CME wishes to inform the investing public that the information stated in the abovementioned article is confirmed. However, DITO Tel is currently engaging the NTC in discussions with respect to the contents of the Show Cause Letter and will update the public of developments, if any.
