On 23 October 2026, Century Pacific Food, Inc. (PSE:CNPF) and Shakey’s Pizza Asia Ventures, Inc. (SPAVI | PSE:PIZZA) were recognized at the 2026 Golden Arrow Awards for Good Corporate Governance, receiving three Golden Arrows each, an improvement from two received in the previous year. Both companies are majority-owned by Century Pacific Group, a Philippine-based consumer-focused group playing in the food and beverage space and real estate development.
CNPF is one of the leading food companies in the country, home to household names such as Century Tuna, 555, Argentina, Ligo, Birch Tree, and Coco Mama among others. Meanwhile, SPAVI is a leading player in full-service chain restaurants and kiosks, with brands such as Shakey’s and Potato Corner.
Organized annually by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), the Golden Arrow Awards recognize publicly listed companies for their governance practices, including the promotion of the shareholder rights, equitable treatment of shareholders, stakeholder engagement, transparency, and board responsibilities. The awards are based on the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard.
Chris Po, CNPF Executive Chairman and SPAVI Chairman shared, “We are grateful to receive this recognition from the ICD. Markets thrive where institutions are strong. Good governance plays a central role in building that foundation and fostering the confidence that our stakeholders place in us. As stewards of our investors’ capital, we view governance not merely as a compliance exercise, but as an ongoing commitment to earning and preserving that trust.”
Both companies view corporate governance as integral to their long-term strategic direction. At CNPF, Board oversight has helped shape investments in growth opportunities. These include supporting growth initiatives such as investing in dairy, coconut, and pet food businesses, while championing sustainability initiatives such as Sustenido Bulan, the company's sardine sustainability program. At SPAVI, the Board has provided strategic oversight of the Group’s organizational transformation, including the efforts to strengthen its leadership structure, improve operational execution, and build capabilities for long-term growth.
Vic Gregorio, SPAVI President and CEO, said, “We are humbled by this recognition and encouraged by the progress we've made. It has been a challenging year, reinforcing the importance of sound governance in guiding us through difficult decisions. As we reset and recalibrate, it reminds us to look beyond short-term results, strengthen our organization, and hold ourselves accountable for building a more resilient business.” |
