Clarification of News Report
We write in response to your request for clarification and/or confirmation on the news article under Biz Buzz column entitled “Buying spree continues” published in the June 4, 2018 issue of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. The article reported in part that:
“After acquiring Starlite Ferries from Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi not too long ago, Davao businessman Dennis Uy has boosted his fleet of roll-on, roll-off vessels by acquiring Southwest Maritime Corp. Biz Buzz learned that Uy’s Chelsea Logistics sealed the deal for Southwest Maritime with its owner, shipping industry pioneer and visionary Arben Santos, not too long ago, and will take control of the firm’s own RoRo ships, which are—not coincidentally—identical to the ones in the fleet of Starlite.
. . . .
We’re told Uy’s latest acquisition gives him at least two more RoRo vessels on top of Starlite’s six or seven, plus up to three or four more currently being built in Japan for both firms.
. . . .”
We wish to clarify that as of this time, the Company has not executed any agreement with Southwest Maritime Corp. or of its shareholders for its acquisition.
